Four years ago, we presold a number of two works by Homer in order to acquire the machinery required to set up our own bindery. After numerous travails and three locations, we’re finally ready to start looking at printing them, binding them at the bindery, and shipping them out to everyone who made the whole thing possible.
However, before we can print them, we need to know exactly how many we need. Hence the first question, which is for those who didn’t back the bindery back in 2021:
Are you interested in being able to retroactively back the bindery and buy a backer’s edition of THE ILIAD or THE ODYSSEY?
Please note that these special backer editions cost $250 apiece. If you are interested, please indicate that in the comments; if we make additional copies available, we will probably sell them for a short period of time, perhaps 2-3 weeks, while we finalize the interior texts prior to printing.
Now, the original plan was to print the books in the same Italian cowhide with which we’ve been binding the Library and History books to date. However, after five years of searching, we have finally located quality pigskin leather in the quantities we require, and we also have access to some higher-quality cowhide from the same supplier. Ergo the second question in the form of a poll.
The Libraria editions will, of course, be bound in the elite Italian goatskin in which all the Libraria books are bound.
And thanks to all the backers for their incredible patience. It’s been a very long time coming, but we are finally on the verge of reaching our destination.
Thank you for the update. I am also curious as to where in the process the Junior classics 9 and 10 are?
I backed the original campaign and I’m overjoyed to hear you finally have things in place to start printing what will surely be treasured heirlooms for generations to come. Thank You!
