The Junior Classics are the largest project that Castalia House has ever tackled and it is still a work in progress. After four years since the crowdfund, the 10-volume set is now eighty percent complete, and we are planning to complete the entire set this year. The current status is now as follows:
Leatherbound: Volumes 1-8 complete. Volumes 7 and 8 ship in March.
Hardcover (royal octavo): Volumes 1-8 shipping.
Hardcover (demi octavo): Volumes 1-6 complete. Volumes 7 and 8 ship in March.
Ebooks: Volumes 1-8 shipping.
While The Animal Book will almost certainly be the most popular volume for young readers, Heroes of History is one of the volumes that will leave an impression for a lifetime. It contains 35 tales of heroism that cover thousands of years of history, from Leonidas and the Spartans at the pass of Thermopylae to Davey Crockett, Sam Bowie, and the Texans under the command of Col. Buck Travis at the Alamo, the latter story written by no less a hero of history than President Theodore Roosevelt himself.
Like all of the preceding volumes, Heroes of History is full of exciting illustrations that bring the texts to life in a manner that will bring the young reader back to re-read the stories time and time again.
The leather editions of The Junior Classics are sold out, although a second edition will be produced in 2025. Five sets of the extremely rare goatskin edition are still available; only ten were produced in total. However, Volumes 1-8 are available and are now shipping in hardcover from Castalia House.
The Junior Classics are one of the best homeschooling tools that have ever been made available to families with children, and they are entirely devoid of the convergence and social justice propaganda that infests most modern educational literature. They are nothing less than an education in ten volumes.
