It makes sense one has to be outside of Christianity to understand it and the criticisms of it. That's, ironically, how I came to undestand the truth and importance of Christendom and most importantly why people hate it so much. Understanding their hatred is to understand their lack of understanding of what controls them.

Brilliant. The difference between most other writers and Chesterton is like the difference between walking into the kitchen smelling yesterday's coffee and taking medicinal morphine straight in the vein. It's not that you can't see the connection it's that the experience is of another kind altogether.
