On the Way: The Landmark Thucydides
The first book in the Castalia History series will arrive at the warehouse this week
The bindery sent the some pictures along with a final production count for THE LANDMARK THUCYDIDES: A Comprehensive Guide to the Peloponnesian War. Although it was the first book in the History series, it took us longer to produce due to its unusually large form factor, which is why there were fewer copies made and why it is the third book in the series to actually be printed and published.
The books have been boxed and we expect them to reach the warehouse this week, so the first shipping notifications will begin going out either later this week or early next week. And while tastes may vary, it may be even more beautiful than the pair of Cambridge Medieval Histories that have already been received by the History subscribers.
The book’s unusual form factor is due to the copious amount of notes and maps that are printed in the margins of the text. This first edition of 500 is already sold out, although the final production count indicates that about fifteen of the subscribers who put their names on the waiting list will be able to purchase a copy. Fortunately, we only produced one-quarter of the copies that we have the contractual right to produce, so we will be able to publish a second edition if there is sufficient interest in one.
There is one interior blemish to report, however. Due to a flaw in the original publisher’s file that is invisible in digital format and was not spotted in the physical proof, the left margin on one page was positioned about one inch too far left, although fortunately, not far enough that any characters are cut off. Most readers would probably not even have noticed this, but our policy is full disclosure. This flaw will be corrected in the second edition, which, as is our custom, will feature a different color leather cover.
If you are interested in acquiring a second edition of THE LANDMARK THUCYDIDES, whether you are a subscriber or not, please email us and let us know.
Yeah
My wife wouldn't let me purchase one because I'm down over 2000 dollars of books that have not arrived. Justly how can I send more money if Junior classics has never arrive plus 8 and counting castalia library books understandably some not being printed yet. But they should realise they are pushing wanting customers away. She says I should cancel all. What can I do though. Like really pushing people away these guys.
Does making a catch-up payment guarantee that you receive the current edition?
