There is about a week left to back the bindery by acquiring either THE ILIAD or THE ODYSSEY. Thanks very much to the scores of people who have already done so. Here’s an example of what the bindery is producing right now, which is the second volume of the Cambridge Byzantine History.
We’ve already reached an agreement in principle with the manufacturer of the machine that will allow us to increase our productive capacity by a factor of 10. We don’t have an exact price on it yet, but the retro-backers have gotten us approximately halfway there already, which is extremely helpful and very much appreciated. This will allow us to start addressing the backlog of books much more rapidly than we’d expected.
Some backers from four years ago mentioned that they would appreciate it if we could come up with a way for them to provide further support for the bindery because they already have the two Homer editions coming to them. So, after contacting a few people, we’re pleased to be able to say that next week, we will be announcing a Signed, Numbered First Edition of a brand new novel written by a top-notch author that will definitely be of interest to both collectors and his fans alike.
The price will be $250, it will be a Library-style book bound in pigskin leather, it will be available for one month only, and we will announce the name of the book and the author next Monday. We just thought potentially interested parties might like a heads-up.
This is something that Franklin Library used to do from time to time; my Signed First Edition of Umberto Eco’s FOUCAULT’S PENDULUM is one of my most treasured books on the shelves of my personal library. We hope to do more Signed First Editions in the future, although, of course, this is a little trickier endeavor since it requires identifying worthy works prior to their initial publication. So, we’re not going to force it, we’re simply going to do one of these special editions when the circumstances happen to come into alignment properly.
Author and editor Brian Niemeier would be an author to watch and partner with. His platform reach expands every year, and his books are bangers. Also, the creator of the current Witch Test™ has got something going on, that's for sure.
Please let me know if I am already a subscriber of Castalia Library. I get billed for Arkhaven and History.
